search online for images of lupine flowers (go to PEXELS.COM for copyright-free reference photos you can download for free).

test the blue hues in your paintbox by painting color swatches and notes in your art journal or sketchbook. The dominant colors I used in this painting were cerulean blue, ultramarine, and blue-violet; but there are many other possibilities for you to explore. Be bold and courageous! Have fun in the process of art-making!

Work up a monochromatic (one color only) version of the scene to practice value and contrast control
